Black Hills in Motion Clogging Studio is the home of Rapid City’s newest clogging group. We are a fun and friendly group open to people of all ages and skill levels who enjoy dancing and learning something new.

Contrary to popular perception, clogging does not involve the use of wooden shoes. Modern clogging is a dance form similar to tap dancing done in time to music. Studio director Kayla Gahagan has been clogging nearly her entire life and has a passion for the form that she loves to share.

Meet the Director

Hi, I'm Kayla Gahagan, Director of Black Hills in Motion Clogging Studio. I've been clogging for more than twenty years and have taught clogging for the last ten. I started directing the Country Rockin' Clogging Studio in Wyoming in 2000 and have been teaching in Rapid City since 2008.

I was hooked on clogging the first day I stepped into the studio and I hope my students find the same enjoyment of the dance that I do. I'm so excited to be teaching here in the Black Hills.

I have also choreographed for the Northwest College Civic Orchestra, performed at the National Clogging Convention multiple times, taught at the University of Montana and was a member of the 2001 Spain Dance World Festival U.S. team.
